Totara and Titoki trees, once part of the original bush that extended down from the Tararua Ranges, also provide a wonderful backdrop to the garden.

Kahikatea Gardens has something for everyone. Totara post and rail fences are a feature of the garden as are the rustic horse drawn farm implements now draped with climbing roses.

Rhododendrons, camellias and other flowering trees and shrubs provide a continuous range of colour throughout the year.

We also have a range of fruit and nut trees and a large vegetable garden. Excess produce is made into the “Rexworthy Cottage” range of delicious chutneys and jams. Walnuts are cold pressed on site to make walnut oil – a very good source of Omega 3 and 6.
