A 900 year old Kahikatea, Totara and Titoki trees once part of the original bush that extended down from the Tararua Ranges provide a wonderful backdrop to the garden and a place to wander.
Kahikatea Gardens has something for everyone. Totara post and rail fences are a feature of the garden as are the old horse drawn farm implements now draped with climbing roses.
Rhododendrons, camellias and other flowering trees and shrubs provide a continuous range of colour throughout the year.
We have a range of fruit and nut trees and a large vegetable garden. Excess produce is made into the “Rexworthy Cottage” delicious chutneys and jams. Walnuts and hazelnuts are also for sale.
